Part of the Together and Stronger family

TAS EuropeAbout

A membership for lives that cross borders.

Together and Stronger Europe is the European house of a worldwide family: an independent membership organisation that negotiates on behalf of its members and gives free, practical help to everyone.

Who we are

Two audiences, one membership.

TAS stands for Together and Stronger. TAS Europe serves two groups of people who have more in common than either usually notices: people from anywhere in the world who live in Europe, and Europeans who live outside Europe. Both live between countries. Both pay, one household at a time, the price of being small.

We serve all of Europe: the European Union, the EEA, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the wider continent. Some of our members moved under free movement, others with a visa or a permit. We serve both, and we never ask which.

Children, families, relatives and friends belong to the same membership, in either direction: the grandmother who visits each summer, the cousin who is thinking of coming, the daughter who has gone to work on another continent.

The idea

The law of large numbers.

The idea is old and proven. People who have something in common, an age, a trade or a town, join one membership, and the membership negotiates for all of them at once. Retired people have done it; so have teachers, farmers and motorists. A carrier, a bank or an insurer that does not move for one family moves for hundreds of thousands.

People who live between countries have never had such a membership, though few need one more. They buy the same journeys in the same weeks, send money along the same routes and face the same paperwork at every border. TAS Europe is that membership.

  1. Members join

Membership is free for the first 90 days: one per adult, with children under 18 included on a parent’s membership. Associations also join at no cost during this period and bring their members with them.

  2. The membership negotiates

As one body, across twelve areas of everyday life, from the journey home to health, banking and repatriation.

  3. Everyone is served

Members use the programmes with their card. The guides, Scam Watch, the Consular Desk and free help near you are free to everyone.

How the houses work together

One card, every house.

The Together and Stronger family is built as regional houses. Each one knows its own ground: its languages, its systems, its calendar. The card is common to all of them.

Your digital member card

A member who joins in Europe and moves to Canada, the Gulf or West Africa is recognised there by the house of that region. A European abroad is recognised here. Seven regional houses — Europe, Canada, India, China, Africa, East Asia and West Asia — work in this way, beside the first house in the Americas.

Three sister organisations serve every house. TAS Member Services negotiates and runs the benefit programmes. TAS Foundation gives free first help to everyone and supports card-holding members in hardship. TAS World maps every region and every house.

What we believe

What we believe.

Five sentences carry the whole of it. The name is also the method: people who live between countries are strong when they stand together, and they are heard when they speak as one.

  • Stronger communities.

A community that negotiates as one stops paying the price of being small.

  • Always stronger together.

Arrivals and departures, old associations and new neighbours: one membership.

  • Together we stay strong.

A move, a border or a change of rules does not end what you belong to.

  • Together we stand.

When a family is struck far from home, nobody faces it alone.

  • Together, we get things done — beautifully.

With care for detail, in plain language, and with respect for everyone we serve.

Our standards

Six things we hold ourselves to.

  1. We never ask about status.

Immigration or residence status is not asked for, collected or stored: not on a form, not on the card, not in the chat.

  2. We never sell personal data.

Your details are handled under the GDPR, kept to what your membership needs, and never sold or shared for marketing.

  3. Associations begin at no cost.

Community associations join the European network at no cost for their first 90 days, and keep their name, their leadership and their independence.

  4. Every benefit is marked plainly.

Each programme carries one of two labels: with your member card, or free to everyone. Nothing else needs explaining.

  5. We guide; we do not advise.

We do not give legal, immigration, tax or financial advice. Our guides are general information, and each one links to the official source.

  6. Membership is not insurance.

Where insurance is part of a benefit, it is offered through licensed providers under their own terms. The Mutual Aid Compact creates no right to payment.

Languages and service

Four languages, one answer.

We serve members in English, French, Spanish and German. Write to us in whichever you prefer: the reply comes in the same language.

Serve with us

Much of what TAS Europe knows, it knows from its members: the interpreter, the guide writer who understands the town hall, the nurse who shows a newly arrived colleague the way in. Members who wish to give their time are welcome to serve.

Independence and office

Independent, and plain about it.

Together and Stronger Europe is an independent membership organisation. It is not a government body, an embassy or a public authority, and it is not affiliated with any.

It speaks for its members and for nobody else. It gives information, never instruction: the decisions about a life, a family or a move remain with the people who live it.
